Recycling is the ultimate goal of all RMC activity: to produce secondary aluminium means the recovery of aluminium from production waste, old and new scrap, turnings and burrs.

The very essence of Raffineria Metalli Capra is therefore oriented to the conscious use of metal resources and to the sustainability of the whole production system. The company values what others reject and recovers waste with a substantial resource saving as the process is comparatively cheaper than the production of primary aluminium.

RMC is fully committed to caring for the environment. RMC has invested a substantial amount of resources in protecting the environment both inside and outside its plants. In its own laboratories, and in cooperation with independent labs, the company controls all aspects of the production process: from reduction of fumes via atmospheric emissions, recycling and purification of cooling water and collection water control, to full recovery of the plants' industrial waste.

The recovery activity of a refinery such as RMC also allows for the monitoring of waste produced and the detection of pollution or radiation. Standard control of raw materials allows for the selection of the highest quality materials in addition to providing a prevention and control service for the Italian and foreign industrial sectors.

Raffineria Metalli Capra carried out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and in 2006 obtained its Integrated Environmental Authorisation (AIA) from the IPPC.
